Peace --You wanna piece of me?

Prayer For The Day

I pray that I may do the things that make for peace. I pray that I may have a mission of conciliation.

***This Adam and Eve Commercial was Banned***

PAY IT FORWARD for Yesterday: I helped a disabled older woman put her groceries in her truck at the supermarket. At first she hesitated -- must have thought I was a wierdo. But we both parted with a smile.

Me?

I'm going to show my age here... Remember the song and video, We are the World. I recall watching that video and listening to that song with tears in my eyes. The world uniting together to promote world peace and stop hunger -- sigh.

I was so touched by this song. So I can't help wonder what happened to me. When did I lose that peaceful, easy feeling?

Me, me, me -- enough about me; Let's move on to the Daily Prayer.

Well, I'm not completely sure to what peace this prayer refers. When I think of peace -- the first thing that comes to mind is inner peace. But I ask myself, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg... inner peace or conciliation?"

Perhaps, the two work as a team -- hand in hand, complementing each other -- like Tom and Jerry or Laverne and Shirley.

One thing I know for sure... I can't begin to reconcile with others until I'm reconciled with me. So for now, my mission of conciliation is with me and my Higher Power.

Sue

Peace be with you all.

What is your opinion on inner peace and conciliation?

TO THE READERS: Thanks to a blogger friend... I have taken her suggestion to get outside myself and perform a random act of kindness each day.

hmmmm, thought provoking question...

I thin too if I don't have peace within me concerning me, I'm not going to find peace with others...When I'm a place where I have peace, than I can give peace to others...

This was an awesome post sis.

I remember when everyone was singing "we are the world" and there was a huge movement to end world hunger.

And here we are years later, and there is still world hunger. Odd to think about, is it not? We thought or had the audacity to believe we could cure such then.

You always amaze me with your words and honesty.
Not sure about the inner peace thing. Not sure if I have had an issue with this, so it never came to my forefront.
I do hope you find it for yourself though.

A few months ago I was trying to load 40lb bags of salt/softener into my car at costco. A man stopped his car to help my daughter and I. I first thought he was going to take my purse, then I thought he might take my daughter. Turns out, he wanted to help and then covet my parking spot.

Was I the only one who wondered how eve and adam kept those fig leaves from falling off in the video?

peace is only inside, nowhere outside can you find it...

Peace with a Higher Power has been one of the biggest challenges of my life. Thanks for your post. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this.

diligence. i have to be very diligent in my recovery and work a little on me everyday to keep my inner peace. having a conscious contact with my higher power is one of the most important pieces in the puzzle toward inner peace.
i have a new found audacity for hope that we can still find world peace and end to strife, wars famine and genocide in the world. it all starts with one person doing their part to make a difference, like loading some ladies groceries on her car...

As I read your post, I thought about a book I read called Abba's Child. Brennan Manning says something to the effect, what if "in as much as you've done it to the least of these, you've done it unto me". What if the "least of these" is you? In as much as we've done it unto yourself, you've done it unto Him. Not sure if that makes sense or not. Hope you have a blessed weekend dear Susan.

What an amazing advert... it's just stopped me in my tracks from saying anything sensible at all.

Bought that song even as vinyl record ... seems so long ago, that it's not even true anymore.
Helped a child today to get out of the swing, while her mother was talking on the phone and not looking.
Being at peace with me - to be honest, that's an ongoing struggle, I'm currently looking forward to meet.
Please have a nice weekend.

Amazing video, Sue !
In last may I helped a friend to go gently to the death in taking her hand. I brought her at the hospital somes photos of her garden and a big bouquet of the Lily of the valley I picked up in her garden. She was very happy.
I love that song too.
I like very much as a kid the Tom and Jerry cartoons.

Peace is an inside job. I find that as I have come to forgive and be gentle with myself, that same gentleness and peacefulness extends to others as well. It's a great feeling not to be angry all the time.
