Goals -- Be Careful what you Wish for cuz you just might get it...

Daily Motivator

The reason why You know what you must do. And yet how do you get yourself to do it? Again and again, remind yourself why.

With a strong enough reason why, you will be able to do anything at any time in any circumstance. If you're tempted to put off a task until later, remind yourself why you truly want to get it done. Put a powerful why behind it, and you'll find a way to do it now.

Real achievement demands many consistent, focused efforts spread over long periods of time. The way to keep it up is to keep it meaningful. Give your long-term intentions the opportunity to dispel the short-term, momentary urges. With a clear, solid purpose firmly in mind, you'll stay reliably on track. Whatever you choose to imagine can happen for you.

Constantly give your goals a sincere reason why, and you'll bring them steadily to life.

ME?

I always found setting a goal can be easy. It's the following through that's the hard part.

More importantly than the goal, in my opinion, is the sabotage. Why do we often carefully plan our mission, start off gungho, then... KABLAM -- throw a monkey wrench into the mix.

I love the final sentence in this motivation -- constantly bring your goals to life. If we don't resuscitate our goals, who will? Yesterday, with the encourage of my friends in the blogosphere, I gave my goal a little mouth to mouth and I'm slowly getting back on track.

My mantra today will be in honor of our president Obama and the little engine that could... "Yes I can! Yes I can! Yes I can!"

i needed this, my goal is to get my daycare license and name my daycare so i can start marketing. i don't know why i didn't get any work done yesterday, except that maybe i was afraid that if this does work that i will use it like a new drug, you know something outside of myself that makes me feel good about me inside. i have many friends who get that way about money. what my real motives are though is just some financial freedom and independence. i need to focus on those goals and not "oh i got money let's go shopping!!" i keep procrastinating and sabotaging my goals in my head.

Avoiding the momentary urges seems to be my biggest hurdle. Hey, there's always tomorrow, right?

Being kind to ourselves, means respecting ourselves and valuing our integrity. And when we don't the spectre of self hate reaches out to destroy us.
Just don't let it, stay focused on mattering to yourself, and you'll get there.

Great post, I like the idea of putting power behind your goal! My goal is to take better care of my body. I need to lose about 30 pounds, all put on by stress eating. I need to take the time and make myself a priority. I think today, I will put some POWER behind this! Thanks for a great post as usual:)

Lately I've been struggling with goals. Not in working towards goals, but in finding goals anymore. Almost feel like I'm at a lost point in my life. Everything I do revolves around my family. I struggle to find myself... maybe that's my goal! but a very selfish goal that I'll have to put off until after school is underway!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. your comment made my day! :)

I think sometimes life gets in the way of meeting our goals, doesn't it? I had goals last night, for example, but my stepson needed stitches instead. I didn't get my shopping done. I think that's the biggest downfall to NOT meeting these set goals, life itself.

I think maybe that I used to have a lot of long term plans. I was good at that and following through. But now I'm more a one day at a time person and my goal oriented drive has lessened. Over the long term, I would like to do a trans Atlantic sail. That is more like a wish I guess.

Hi Sue,
I agree with Marsha, life gets in the way. It gets harder to stay focused for some. Others can just work right through it all until they achieve it! Personally I have found that age gets in my way anymore. So many things that I'd like to do but I know that physically I just can't do it all anymore.
I take things one day at a time anymore and consider what used to be my goals, are now just dreams.

I get distracted so easily that it has always been hard for me to set goals I'm one of those "right side of the brain" folks, in a bad way. I want to find out that I can accomplish a craft, than I'm hopping to the next one! I'd love to be "the other way!"

yes you can, yes you can, yes you can.
I have many goals. Big ones, like being healthy. Little ones, like today making dinner and not a mess. Ok, I am also working on patience.
I always learn from your messages.
Thanks!

LOL! I think my problem is I set far too many goals at once and then have a hard time getting anything done! Yesterday though, I decided it was high time to clean out the laundry closet and mop the floors (we have a large tiled area downstairs and its a big job that always hurts my back!) And I DID IT and all after racing rockets, cleaning the rest of the house, lessons with the kids, cooking and a bit of grocery shopping after dinner! Now if only I could summon the energy to clean up the new "craft room", formally my sewing room but my dear daughter stole all the sewing stuff and made a new room leaving mine in a big mess! Hmmmm!

I think I can, I think I can! Nah not today! Friends are coming over to play! hehe!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I love yours and will be back to read some of your older affirmations when I have more time!

Hugs, xxxoooxxx

Allow me to bow in respect of both, the way you write and the person behind.
Thank you as well for the question, took me longer to find an adequate answer than I thought...
Please have a nice start into the new month.

Hello Susan,
I welcome you to my blog. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

This is my first visit here. I read your countdown clock and it touched my heart. I hope that in some way I may be instrumental in helping you reach the goal you have set for yourself.

Again, welcome.

Such a great post today. I am reminded of the old hymn, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" which in part says, "strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow."
